I saw this earlier. Has to be incredible mismanagement somewhere, plus the head scratchers of the Kiffin and Dooley hires. I think Jones will get them competitive. Probably not elite but competitive, which should be enough to change their financial position enough to get that debt paid down over about 10 years. Have they changed ADs last 3 or 4 years? If not that should be on the short list of to dos.
get competitive and start selling out home games and that debt starts to disappear pretty quickly with a 100K+ seat stadium.

The vast majority of it is because of building projects. Expansion to football facility, basketball practice facility, improvements to Neyland Stadium, etc.
The biggest issue is the lack of cash reserves. That's where the problem lies.

since I believe they are still paying Fulmer a paycheck this is not a shock to me. Pearl might be getting some cash still too.
don't think Pearl is getting cash, since they fired him with cause.
Fulmer got his final check in December.
