"In the deed, the glory"
Right on IMO.
Oath Before Orders
Point well taken, sir.
Ben will receive conference honors this year, and so should Kyler, if they get him the ball. Sam is reported to be better than Ben. Legacy players are an important part of CFB at just about every university. Sam has just as good a shot as the other 3-star recruits to excel. With the receivers we have right now, Cotton/Kyler; Long/Sutton, this is nothing to be concerned about IMO. We've got a great walk on class that could also contribute at TE.
LIST OF CURRENT TIGHT ENDS:
82 Robert Barry TE So. RS 6-8/240 Battle Creek, NE (Battle Creek HS)

41 Jake Long TE So. RS 6-4/235 Elkhorn, NE (Elkhorn HS)
86 Mychael McClure TE Jr. RS 6-5/245 Wisner, NE (Wisner-Pilger HS)
25 Kyler Reed TE Jr. 2V 6-3/230 Shawnee, KS (St. Thomas Aquinas HS)
36 Eddie Ridder TE Fr. HS 6-6/225 Elkhorn, NE (Mount Michael Benedictine)
98 David Sutton TE Fr. HS 6-3/250 Lincoln, NE (Southeast)
47 Brett Wells TE So. RS 6-4/215 St. Paul, NE (St. Paul HS

...It ain't what they call you, it's what you answer to.
W. C. Fields
I'll be shocked if Barry doesn't start to get some serious snaps this season.
If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.
I think we will see Sutton well before Barry.
I think any idea that Ben C is just a "blocking" TE is misinformed. IMO he has not been targeted enough--especially in the Red Zone.
You're prolly right. i didn't know about the knee injury.
Getting Sutton in last fall instead of the winter was huge. He looked like he had added quite a bit of muscle by the end of the season.
Ben will have a good senior year but I don't see even 2nd team honors with him splitting snaps. Did he get some last year though? But they do seem to go double tights often, so who knows.
i don't know about that. There are many times when they're both in the game at the same time. If they're running the ball, Ben rarely comes out.
I don't really agree on the all conference accolades already. Ben catches most of his passes within 8 yards of LOS and doesn't possess speed that Reed has to create in open space. He becomes a bulldozer and fights for 4 or 5 extra yards (which is great by the way, don't get me wrong). He is great on running plays, but IMO he doesn't even get thrown to enough to get all-conference.
Don't forget he played most of the season with a pretty screwed up arm.
Didn't call him a Blocking TE. Said he is one the nation's best blocking TE's, which he undoubtedly is. Arguably the best in the country.
We don't use any of our TE's as much as we should in the passing game regardless of field position. How Kyler Reed can only have 15 receptions this past season is a complete and utter joke.
I think Kyler received extra attention from most of the B1G teams, due to his big play ability. He always made big plays when they seemed to forget about him in 2010.
