I off to the greatest hole in golf - The 16th @ The Phoenix Open (actual name is Waste Management Open).
If you don't know about it, catch a glimpse on the golf channel today. It is a par 3 that is built into a stadium - I don't know if it's rivaled any where else on the PGA.
It's a big party and dudes get booed if they miss the green. Gonna be a big guy outing with Dad and other family. Have a great day all
Enjoy yourself. Always enjoy the caddie races there too.
Sounds like a blast, have fun!
This is probably THE greatest time in golf. It's more like a regular sporting event. The have different chants, boo when someone misses the green, they have thos visual strip thingers that tell you to get loud. Just one big drunkfest.
Feed me to the wolves, and I will return leader of the pack. #FreeDA
My uncle has corporate tickets on 18. Didn't know those even existed. Can't wait to get out there
I think most all tourny's have that. Even the smaller ones. They are golf's version of a luxury box. Most have open bars and catered food.
Yep, going next year I hope
I've had chances to go into a couple of them, but i just took my flag and went home.
Oh yeah! Gonna lay some money down on that.
The party has started with the groundskeepers getting booed already and no golfers expected for another 2 hrs!
PGA Tour events are fun when you can park yourself at a hole and just watch the players go through. Especially at a place like that. Enjoy yourself.
Also, congrats on your 2000th post!
Sweet! Didn't even know.
Just adding up to great day.
That hole is pretty raucous. Looks like a lot of fun. I used to go to the Players at Ponte Verde pretty regularly when I lived in Florida. There was a spot by the 17th green where you could set up directly opposite of where the players teed off and watch the shots coming in, and also look right across the water and see everything going on at the 16th hole from tee to green. That was a great spot. Noticed watching the tournament on TV a year or 2 ago that they had nothing but corporate tents set up in that location now. Terrible thing to do.
awesome seats. I wanna go there some day. Would be a blast.
602 better have caught a football.
How'd it end up 602?
Yeah, they have removed bleachers or General Admission seats for more corporate suites. I hope they stop where they are at, but you see where it might be going.
Haha! I wish I had the chance, the dude was punting them from the tee box and just off the tee box on his way to the green. I was next to the green and he was out of footballs before he got near us.
However, I did come away with a tshirt thrown to us from the Phoenix Suns dancers (yup, cheerleaders at a golf event). Now that I think uabout it, there is more for them to cheer about on the course than on the court.
Oh yeah, I also got a "Muff" hat! Haha! Great times
Let me see....I saw about 5 arrests, 1 fight, Phoenix Suns Dancers, chicks everywhere, 4 caddies bite the dust in their hot pursuit to touch the green first, and won a few bucks. So it was a typical Saturday at The 16th.
Oh yeah, the golf was pretty good too. Mickelson nailed his drive to what appeared like 3 feet of the hole. The place went bezerk after that shot, he is an ASU grad and a god in AZ.
Mickelson went wire-to-wire and took the tournament yesterday. He nearly broke a PGA record with a 28 under 256.
Until next year...
