Someone explain why I'm missing the boat. It's not even Top 5 funniest 80s movie.

I think you feel that way because its a cult classic. Cult classics don't need much explanation, you either love em or you don't.
Some people don't like Lebowski. But the dude's just mis-understood.

No, the INS isn't chasing him; Taylor Martinez just runs like that. . . .
I've never seen it
Goal in life is to make the Huskers Illustrated Hall Of Fame
I wouldn't say it's that funny, but there's just so much stuff that sticks in your head. It's very quotable and memorable.
How anyone couldn't the Lebowski is beyond me tho.
A boy, a Twitter page, and the aspiration that you follow him. It's what this country was founded upon.
Two things make this great.
1. Sloane Peterson
2. This in the cast credits from IMDB
Charlie Sheen ... Boy in Police Station

Your team. All the time.

Ed Rooney: What's the score?
Pizza Joint Owner: Nothin' nothin'.
Ed Rooney: [not really listening] Who's winning?
Pizza Joint Owner: The Bears.
So to answer this question, what were the top 5 comedies in the 1980's
3. Space Balls
5. Ferris Buellers Day Off
Honorable mention: Weird Science, Stripes, Three Amigos, Big, I'm Gonna Git ya, Sucker, Stir Crazy, Coming to America, 48 Hours, Weekend at Bernie's; Police Academy, Airplane
Just a matter of (no) taste.

C'mon man, he goes to a Cubs game!
Doesnt it star Matthew Broderick who married Mr Ed aka Sarah Jessica Parker in real life
How the Naked Gun series, Better Off Dead, and About Last Night escaped even your Honorable Mention list is purely criminal. [ashamed]
Forgot about the Breakfast Club.
That movie is likely oversatuated and overplayed. Much like Nickelback, it has now become too popular for an 'it' person to be a fan.
I love that movie.
Its definitely a cult classic. Not for everyone. Personally, I can't get enough of Ferris Bueller. Great movie. Overplayed on comedy central, perhaps, but with good reason.
For me the 80's is all about Back to the Future, Batman, SE Hinton and Die Hard.
1. Raising Arizona
2. Anything John Candy
3. Anything Steve Martin
5. Commando (Yes, it was a comedy)
Arnold Quote From Commando.
