...It ain't what they call you, it's what you answer to.
W. C. Fields
I rarely dv unless its absolutely deserved.
That's brilliant... Seriously... If you have the ability to DV someone's thoughts or opinions, the system should force you to support your choice with an explanation.
UV for you my good man!!
The average person uses 10% of their brains capacity or something like that. I probably use 2% so thank you.
To be fair, we're required to insert a reason for banning people. When I ban Gopher for fun, I generally put "Just because."
Nebraska Old Gold Knights
The feeling is mutual.
I have never down voted anyone and don't plan to start.
I gave a bunch of you up votes just cuz.
Course we don't all agree on everything but who does. I am sure in person we would all have a good time and enjoy each other. I enjoy this board a lot and whine my subscription runs out on tos i will let it and just stick here.

Giving up votes is exilerating. Kinda like following kristy into a motel pool butt naked.

Is this that upvote place I've been hearing about?
Why yes it is!
I knew I was in the right place!
Why down vote...when it feels so damn good to up vote!
UV party ya'll. Im handing these things out like pennies on Halloween...oops did i say that out loud?
Because down voting is as close to engaging in an actual debate as some people will get.
I'll say this; I would guess that 90% of it comes from 10% or less of the board. It's just how certain people function. The old "drag them down to my level" frame of mind.
I've said this a few times and I'll say it again. Down votes should be eliminated entirely and we should only have up votes. Use them for the best posts you see and create a real meritocracy here.
Take away the vehicle for the cowardly "down voter without an argument" and they will have no choice but to contribute something meaningful to the board or hit the highway.
That's my rant on that subject.
Some one had an excellent idea of having to comment to use a DV
I like this idea. If people are worried about stars, make them earn them by number of UV's. 500 UV's for a 1*. 1000 UV's for a 2*. 1500 UV's for 3*. etc.....
Take Zonie for an example. I'm guessing most on here would agree that he is one of the better posters on here. I think his rating is like a 90 or 91 or something like that. Then there are guys with maybe 10-15 posts who have a rating of 100. Doesn't make sense to me outside the fact that those 10-15 posts may be very good posts. Eliminate DV's and make milestones (or whatever) for your number of stars.
Feed me to the wolves, and I will return leader of the pack. #FreeDA
I like downvotes because an upvote party will always ensue. Yes I drop the dv on obvious trolls and love it. Just being honest. However I will never dv a badge.

J/k- good post
Ya I don't think I've ever DVd the badge. If I did, I'll explain. Ill down vote BS all day though and some kind of joy out of it. The linkster gets it almost everytime unless he makes an a actual topic for people discuss. My DVs mostly are placed in rant threads.
Lots of good ideas expressed here. Aren't ratings and stars slightly redundant?
