The first human remains was found in Oklahoma. When they uncovered the human remains they were shocked to see that the shirt he was wearing had this on the front:
Your comment baffles me, what do you mean?
I'm hoping this is sarcasm
Bet you it's not sarcasm. Many people believe this. And, no, I'm not one of them.
My brother in law is one of then
These people scare me.
People who believe in ghosts scare me. And I still hate the SciFi channel.
means we're on the same page. This isn't a board for scientific arguments, but the 2nd law of thermodynamics is my reasoning. People can argue with me if they want but I won't take the bait here. Too many times have I debated on these types of topics online with nothing to show for it. waste of time.
There is no argument for the earth being less than ~3.7 billion years old. Any argument besides that is pseudoscience or 100% made up. I've also had this argument to many times to say much more than that. People are free to believe what they want even if they are wrong
Ill leave with a quote:
"You can believe what you want religiously. Religion is one thing, but science, provable science is something else. My concern is you don't want people growing up not believing in radioactivity, not believing in geology and deep time. You don't want people in the United States growing up without the expectation that we can land spacecraft on Mars. You want people to believe in science, this process, this great idea that humans had to discover more about the universe and our place in it, our place in space. And I really want to emphasize, I'm not attacking anybody's religion, but science, if you go to a museum and you see fossil dinosaur bones, they came from somewhere, and we have by diligent investigation have determined that the earth is 4.54 billion years old. The sun is a star, like all the other stars you see in the sky, and we are made of the same stuff. This is wonderful! This is fantastic discoveries that fill me with reverence, make me excited.
It's for the betterment of the United States, the United States economy and our future. What makes the United States great, the reason people wanted to live in the United States, move here still, is because of our ability to innovate. This goes back to Ben Franklin and Thomas Alva Edison and George Washington Carver, let alone landing on the moon, Neil Armstrong. All these people believed in science. This morning, talking about Hurricane Isaac, and we're watching satellite maps made with spacecraft orbiting the earth, and this all comes from science. If you have this idea that the earth is only 10,000 years old, you are denying, if you will, everything that you can touch and see. You're not paying attention to what's happening in the universe around you. As I say, this is bad for kids". -bill nye
How can someone not?
Hang on - is this some sort of sneaky, back-handed Barney Cotton insult thread???
last thing i'll post here, but the evidence Bill speaks of is minimal and presumptive at best. It takes presuppositions to be true that haven't been and can't be proven. If someone believes that the earth is young, it doesn't mean they don't believe in science, it means they believe that the evidence points elsewhere. Bill Nye's quote does nothing but assumes the negative about plenty of smart people that believe other than he does.
Yeah! It's Science!
"YOU'RE JUST A WOMAN WITH A SMALL BRAIN. WITH A BRAIN A THRID THE SIZE OF US. IT'S SCIENCE."
QUOTE FROM ANCHORMAN
Radioactive decay and Carbon dating is fact and can be observed in a lab for 100 years an infinite # of times with the exact same result. It's in no way shape or form "presumptive" ...
The last time I had this discussion with someone I asked them if they think the earth is spherical or flat and if they think the earth is the center of the universe. They said And I quote "obviously the earth is not flat and no I don't think we are the center of the universe but that is different, that is proven" well that is not any more of a fact than radioactive decay. Something is not fact only when it is accepted by the church it's fact when it goes from theory to something that can be proven in a lab infinitely.
Nothing good can come from this IMO.
