you have to be kidding....your happy with 8 or 9 wins a season....sounds like a ku or isu fan to me.
Bottom line Bo is not getting the job done. He's not HC material. Just hope the new AD has some balls and steps on Bo's toes. Nebraska will never win any kind of championship with Bo as HC.
this irks me... No one is "happy" with 9 win seasons, but to fire a guy over 9 wins is ridiculous. We all expect and desire championships, but just because someone has some semblance of realism all of the sudden they are "happy" with 9 win seasons. Nevermind the fact that firing a guy after a 9 win season makes you basically start from scratch, or going through coaches every 4 years makes you a laughing stock (see: ND).
I'm not happy with 9 win seasons and I doubt Bo is either, but go ahead and put that on people just because they like 9 wins more than 5.
Lando well said and you've already had a +6 up votes; 1 from me for sure. I agree with you. Those that support Bo need to also call a spade what it is; a spade and not try to sugar coat it like cereal! Then that would be political.
Lando i agree yes i am fast loosing faith in Bo. We all know his intentions are not to loose but the outcome is disgusting and frustrating since 2010! Something is not right, could be coaches have enough films on Bo's coaching tendencies and know how to kill them on the field or his PR attitude but something is seriously wrong with Bo's coaching i really dont know what that it is but It has to change real quickly! He is "officially" on the clock IMO
Yes coaches can take responsibilities all they want for that game last Saturday but the players them selves have to show accountably in the last 2 quarters: they just did not show up: again coaches responsibility to instill never give up attitude in them and not Bo's "bully talk" on the side lines.

Meyer was not doing anything fancy or tricky. He exposed the weak side and ran some read plays. Bo did not adjust.
cool picture from space
There is a lot of things that can still happen and Bo to right the ship.
I have a few idea's but I keep them to myself as I will get chastized by most anymore for the "kool-aid" addictions.
The thing about the recruiting, I will give you 2008. I have no qualms about it. From there on out Bo has not done a good enough job to improve the talent on this team outside of a few players. A few players are not going to win you championships as Nebraska fans demand. We need 20-22 talented guys... where we can say I hope "so-in-so" doesnt screw this one for us, rather than saying I hope a whole position group doesn't fall apart.
Don't argue about the players transfering as thats not fair to either the recuit/player or Bo.
As for the argument that "who would replace him"?
There is a long list of coaches in D1 football that don't make near the money or have the AD/Fan support of Nebraska. To say we wouldn't be able to pull in a big name is crazy and the AD has a abundance of money. Don't kid yourselves for a second thinking we could not buy out Bo's contract... we could many many many times over.
Like I said before Bo can right the wrongs and get this ship back on the right path... question is will he be humble enough to admit what is wrong to make the right changes.
"In the deed, the glory"
Bo and the new AD's relationship would be interesting to say the least. Bo basically dismissed n disregarded his hiring when asked. He said basically that all he's thinking about was OSU. Really?.. we all saw the out come of that!
Bo MUST do better the program has a history and yes a 9 win season is not our standard! Yes tell anyone who wanna know. Go Huskers!
I could quote a number of posts in this thread. Some I agree with, some I don't. Bottom line, you all know how I feel about this.
Lando, I've been with you the whole time. All the way back to TOS during the Cody Green thing.
I have tried to get on board with Bo. Just can't do it. And now I won't even try. I'm tires of where we are as a football program. It's mediocre at best. And the fan base is starting to settle for that. And what's sad is they don't even recognize it. Making excuses for this staff left and right. Fact is this man makes 3m+ a year. For what? For this? Doesn't even want to do the whole job. Picks and chooses what he wants to do. You make that kind of money, you do everything required to get the job done. Fact is, he's not, and worse yet, refuses too. Or at least acknowledge he isn't.
I laugh my ass off with this living in the past stuffs. A coach won't come here????? Foolish talk. Absolutely foolish. Money talks, BS walks. And Steve Petersen is not our AD now. We have tradition to die for. Facilities to die for. A sellout streak never been seen before, and not ending anytime soon. You think most coaches that want to be the best are scared of a tough fan base? . They want that challenge. That is what makes you great. Relish the opportunity. We can get our guy. No doubt in my mind.
Bo has failed. It's time its brought to the forefront. I have all the Faith in the world in Perlman and Eichorst to get this right. Perlman is not that fond of Bo anyway. So there's that. Boosters are chomping at the bit right now. They want a change. Shouldn't bite the hand that feeds you. Bo has done that. Which is forgivable if you win at a high level. Bo hasn't. He has had his moments of promise. But those are few and far between.
Time to move forward. Time for a change. Time to get back to winning at a high level. It's time. And I believe I am not alone on this. And I am NOT a bad fan because I feel this way. No matter what some self rightous poster think.
I haven't fully done my research on potential coaches yet. But a few names come to mind. Starting with my guy Chris Petersen. More names to follow from me.
Oath Before Orders
Chris Peterson is an aberration... he would be Dan Hawkins 2.0. I would not be excited about that hire.
Nah, he def not Hawkins.
Love that part about "nobody wanting to come here" Humble Warrior. I agree with your response. I am amazed at people chalking up Nebraska as a "coaching wasteland" so to speak. We have cold weather and our state isn't chalk full of 5 start athletes. Boo-hoo. No coach takes a job because they don't think it is going to be much work, they take a job to create a LEGACY. And no, no real professional is scared of the "Osborne/Devaney shadow". These people are competitive professionals for Heaven's sake, not kids who are scared to reach their hand up a girl's shirt and take it the next level. I worked in collegiate athletics for a short stint, and I can tell you that many of these individuals who strive to be head coaches eat crap for a very long time in regards to pay and hours worked...they certainly don't envelop themselves in that drudgery for years so that one day when a coaching position at a school with pride, tradition & passion opens up they can stick their tail between their legs and steer clear of it because someone won a lot of games there once. People that say that crap in the rumor mill are just angry, bitter fans who have no idea what the mentality of any coach worth his salt is.
I agree that I am not convinced that Pelini is the answer, as much as I would like him to be, but to sit here and say nobody wants to come to NU because it isn't a mythical Oasis of sunshine giggles is giving way too much credit to towns like Tuscaloosa, Norman etc. They have been through it before, and we are not immune to it either. One way or another we will find a way to get back to where we belong. We won't win it every year, but we at least will get back to being in the damn hunt. Take pride in your state, the people in it & the fact that everyone involved with that University knows that there is too much of the people in Nebraska's identity associated with that program to be known as a perennial loser, or middle of the pack type of team.

I,m with you..I never like the idea of hiring Bo Cosgrove ..I mean Bo Pelini..Boy he sure has to eat crow this week after last weeks comment that he still can coach Defense..lollllllllllllllll ..If we want to be like the big boy teams we will need to dish out the Big boy bucks to land our own Meyers,Sabin or some big name coach who can draw in the recruits..
But this will never happpen..The people who run the program are always looking for a good coach they can get for a steal ,which we see in Baseball and Basketball and not a great coach..Its the old fashion Nebraska way!!!!!!!!!!
I here ya, it's not easy been patient, I know we would not be either! Although I think the conference change and the recruiting base change in the middle of rebuilding was a double whammy, and puts you in a truly unique situation. If you can snag a big name, go for it, if not, Bo will work out if you can be patient. It's easier to be patient with a new guy becasue you feel like you have something new and exciting.
I know easy for me to say!
And please kick the hell out of that school up north! If they didn't recruit Ohio kids and coaches they would never be anything. Replace that and you are golden. Become the new recruiting competition to Urban in Ohio and Pennsylvania instead of Hoke and they are irrelevant. They are evil. I would love to see you become the team in the other division and never see them in the title game ever. We are all rooting for you against those frauds!
Please fill me in then....
I am curious to see if Bo will change the way he does things going forward. Obviously his philosophy isn't working now. TO realized that he needed to recruit more speed and what happened? He won 3 titles in 4 years. Bo needs to not only change the way his staff recruits, but I think he needs to be open to changing his defensive philosophies. If this doesn't take place over the next couple years, then its time for him to go
I'm not happy with implosions and embarrassing performances on what seems like every nationally televised game that this program has been in over the past 5 years either.
The new Husker AD may surprise us on that angle.
I'm not happy about those things either... and I doubt Bo is. Just saying that if there were a sure-fire bet that we would better without him I would be all for it. But as far as I can tell, we've been down this road before and it wasn't pretty.
Not to intrude, but if you do replace Bo in the next 2-3 years you should consider Al Golden. He did an amazing job at Temple starting with nothing. He's a Joe Paterno disciple, which if you can set the Sandusky situation aside, means he's big on academics and character and is a fundamentally defensive guy who favors power running and ball control on offense. He has fantastic recruiting ties in the NE from his time at PSU and Temple and is now developing recruiting relationships in talent rich Florida. And he's familiar with the B10 from his time at PSU. Just my .

I don't know if firing him is the way to go, but I wouldn't care if he was canned. He fixed some issues with the program after Callahan, but he may have overstayed his welcome now. Similar to his QB, he may very well be maxed out.
His did not improve in year 4 and year 5 is projecting to be the same or worse. He has shown he has no answers or the ability to fix the areas of greatest concern on his team, QB play and defense.
Bo may have lost this team in that he doesn't know how to get better. He has looked defeated and like he has given up twice (UCLA and OSU). It sure looks more and more that he is not the person to lead this program back to the level of competitiveness that is expected.
One of the reasons I like the Eichorst hire is the opportunity for a "new" evaluation of the head coach. Or at least, that is what I am expecting.

thanks for coming MrWoodson... Golden is definitely an intriguing hire, and one I might support if we have to let go of Bo or he leaves. Setting that Sandusky scandal aside is pretty hard to do though as Paterno's judge of character really really takes a big shot on that one. But I'm not sure it should reflect on who Al Golden is as a person or coach either.
Yeah, it's hard to compartmentalize the Sandusky thing. But when I said "character" I really meant player character and academics. I wasn't commenting on JoePa himself.
Edit: Golden also knows recruiting in B10 country quite well, especially Pennsylvania and Ohio. In many ways, he looks like a perfect fit for the B10. My guess is he will end up somewhere in the B10 at some point.
