What does your God-daughter's father think about Bo?
Would back to back conference titles do it?
Teein' Off on Links
Is Meyerskid Urban Meyer's kid or something?
Jesus, watching him hate on Bo is like watching Landohusker in the old days hate on Taylor Martinez.
We get it dude, you don't like Bo. I think you stated that about 30 trillion times in this thread. I hardly comment on actual football threads. Urban Meyer's kid reminds me of Veruca, the "lovable and adorable" little girl from Willy Wonka. You want it NOW.
I don't blame you, who doesn't, but you don't seem to understand patience. Although I've wished Bi could have done better in his first couple years here (couple conference titles couldn't hurt) he has for the most part done a excellent job. Is he perfect? Heck no! Nobody is, not even I am and I'm awesome.
Bo took over a team that didnt understand what being a team was about, although they were extremely talented, they were bad as a TEAM. Bo turned that around in his first season, we won 9 games coming off one of the WORST SEASONS IN NEBRASKA HISTORY. It was great!
Second and third seasons you could truely see the defense understanding Bo's scheme and they were playing at a national dominance level......what do we call that in Nebraska? A blackshirt.
We played in back-to-back conference championship games and was 4 points away from being back-to-back champions.
Now as a FIRST time HC, if you thought Bo would be able to grasp everything that came with the job and act like a 10-year vet, you are insane, Bo focused on coaching, didn't focus on recruiting which ended up hurting us big time last year, yet we still won at least 9 games with the coaching we had.
It seemed in Bo's third season he finally started to understand he couldn't ignore recruiting if he wanted to keep competing with the big boys (and we WERE in 09 and 10) so we saw a great improvement in the 11' and 12' classes, plus with Bo's football knowledge on defense and him installing the offense he wants, things are really now starting to get going.
We are still suffering from the early recruiting classes today, and yet the future is bright for the blackshirts. Yes, we did lose to a 7-2 UCLA team on the ROAD by 6 POINTS and get throttled by the #5 team in the country WHO IS UNDEFEATED. After all that though, we are still playing as a team, we are on the verge of making our first B1G CCG appearance which would make 3 outta 5 conference championships made in Bo's time here. Not to bad, if a second would have ticked off in Dallas in 2009 or a freshman QB didn't throw a interception in the endzone in 2010, Bo would have 2 conference titles and I'm sure you would be singing a different tune right now.
Enough though of the ifs, couldas or wouldas, the time to focus is now, Bo is still learning this job, he has had more success than 90% of first time HCs do in his first 4.5 seasons, I will be sitting in the back of the wagon, when this thing really starts to get rolling I hope it leaves the doubters behind. Go Big Red!
Jesus that was long, the cliffs version comes out in a week.
There are only two reasons to date a girl you've already dated: breast implants.
To clarify your saying that if Bo leaves we would be able to pull in any coach we want? If that is what your saying then I'm stunned. Bo's maturing into a top notch HC.
Hater, sorry if I offended you. My comments were meant to joke around with you that's all.
What rumors from last year are you talking about?
MK, has Bo been using Milt more towards the end of the football season?
Not that I know of
I'm still not sure how Milt is involved here... I thought he was squarely out of the coaching realm? Didn't he turn down many consulting opportunities for this program and others? I could be wrong.
Not offended, I just wanted to clarify why I said that. Last year there was talk that Ron Brown might want to step down and that Bo asked him to stay.
I could be remembering it incorrectly though.
Milt was asked a few times to come down and talk run game.
Paid consultants are not legal so no he hasn't turned that down.
He is completely out of coaching and likes it that way. He only talked run game with them because they asked and he loves the school and the program.
not sure how milt got into this either
So if some on here thinks we didn't win then what did we do? We had more points that MSU at the end of the game and that translates into a win. There is always some people who will complain no matter what happens.
I know this doesn't belong here, but Milt told Jeff Culhane on the Huskers Road Show this summer that if TM was his QB back in the 90's, they would have been just as good
I don't think we get anyone we want if Bo leaves. Didn't Urban Meyer turn down Stevie P. after Frank was fired? If I am remember it correctly the reason he didn't want the job was because he thought that it would be too difficult to recruit to Nebraska and that would make it more difficult to win.
It takes a special kind of coach to want to coach at Nebraska. Sure Nebraska is willing to pay top dollar, has the top facilities, and one of the best fanbases in college football, but there are at least 10 other programs in college football that can boast that and are located in traditional recruiting hotbeds.
Recruiting to Nebraska wasnt why UM didn't want to come to Nebraska. Its the UNREALISTIC expectations like guys meyerkids have, he did not want to coach at a program who fires coaches after 9 win seasons
so now it is unrealistic expectations for me to want to be considered an elite program
for me to want to compete for conference championships every year
to be able to compete with (NOT NECESSARILY WIN) with the elite in college football
that is unrealistic of the Nebraska football program?
no, that's not what people are saying. Listen, you're hatred for Pelini shrouds you from these facts:
2008: After a 5-7 he takes Nebraska to 9-4 and back to conference relevence
2009: Competes for Conference championship... loses by 1 (blame refs, or whatever... Kunalic kicked a ball out of bounds and Asante horse collar tackled)
2010: Started RS-FR QB... competed for conference championship again... jumped out to 17-7 lead and lost by 4 due to a RS-FR throwing an INT in the end-zone.
2011: Changes conferences, loses best players on Defensive line and Secondary for most of season. Takes control of division after dominating performance over MSU but loses the lead in a loss to Northwestern.
2012: 7-2 with some resilient wins and controls his own destiny in the B1G. Again looks like we're competing for conference championship
In 2008 no one expected any coach to come in and win a conference title right away. So throwing that season out Bo Pelini has had us in (if we project to getting there this year) the conference championship game in 3 out of 4 years. Not bad I would say.
Jesus meyers, we get it. You don't think Pelini will get us back to relevance. What would our program look like had TO took the Colorado job after it was deemed he couldn't win the big one? I will hang up and listen to your answer...
It would appear that as long as you don't complain at all about the coach you're allowed to have this opinion.
I am not on here to rhetorically speak my mind. everytime i post it is in response to something someone asked or said.
Had Osborne went to Colorado we wouldn't probably have been an elite program for as long as we were.
Klein, I appreciate the stats and stuff. we just agree to disagree.
I will stop posting in this thread or any other
It simply isn't fun anymore. There used to be debate, good natured, but now it is mostly rhetoric. Agree with the masses, love our coach, love our qB, be happy with where we are at, or SHUT THE EFF UP.
As Scarlet so eloquently put it a few posts up, Jesus Y'all, I get it. You are fine with where we are at. You are ok with what we have accomplished. One should not question the process.
Therefore I won't.
Mods, please end my subscription immediately.
I'm going to say Josh has effectively
seriously? I'm just providing counter points to your assertion that we are not consistently competing for conference titles... Be critical of Bo, that's fine, and the players, that's fine too. I just draw the line at saying things like "this program will be much better off without him" when there is no evidence it would and there are 4 years worth of evidence that beg to differ.
I value a lot of your insights. You shouldn't leave, just refrain from posting things that so overtly show a contempt for Bo Pelini. Be critical of him fine, but to hope he gets fired or leaves seems silly when a team is sitting at 7-2. That's all i'm saying.
Meyer all I'm saying is I would like to see what Bo can do given a few more years. I think this program will be better over the next five years compared to the first 5. We disagree. Sorry I came off a little harsh
