Chase Rome and Heard are gone

Was holding out hope for Heard. Didn't see this Rome thing coming. Need VV and others to really step it up.

Not sure we will miss Chase Rome other than depth. Not a difference maker when he played -- just a body. Failed to live up to expectations.

Never got a good vibe from Rome. I think we were all waiting for him to be the player he was recruited to be. You almost didnt know he was in there when he was. Dont NEED him, wont miss him. Hopefully some of our other "busts" (to this point) will get it.

People that are happy that Chase Rome is gone don't understand the real problem with our DL. We now have zero starting experience (healthy starting experience) coming back at three of the four DL spots and we have little to no depth. True Freshmen might have to play DT... that's not going to end well.

Exactly
If Rome isn't a loss at this point...then there are just no such things as losses. Relying on freshmen and guys with one leg is not a recipe for success at DT

Disappointed in Rome.
I think this is quite substantial. While he has underachieved, he was the most experienced and utilized lineman on the team next to maybe Ankrah.
As we also heard, Randle is out for Spring (surprise). Returnining vets include Ankrah and to walking injuries in Randle and Williams. Even if Williams and Randle are not hurt, they have little playing time under them. Then we have a bunch of potential....
To have to count on unproven potentional to even put a defensive line together is beyond words. Hopefully Bo and Kaz earn their paychecks this season.

at least there is hope of an upgrade. with Rome he was worthless. he was disliked by his teammates, coaches, and now probably most fans. he was arrogant, lazy, and had a selfish attitude. this is good news. this means younger more talented guys can get their foot in the door perhaps a year or two earlier.

keeping Rome is in NO WAY a recipe for success either. we are in the lesser of two evils right now without ROme.

But he was one more bullet in your gun.
You just lost your most talented player returning of those that had played.

Anybody think Kaz changes up the way he plays his line? As in the style of play because of the mass amount of youth. I could see them going to a style more suited to just playin ball rather than a schematic defense. These younger guys will look like 1 star guys if they try and play Bo's defense next year. They have to change it right?????

Rome was a disease. we are better off. younger guys will get a lot of reps this spring. our DL will be much different than expected come Fall.

Maybe... but the fact is we will be relying on a Sr with one leg, a Jr. with bad legs, two RS-FR... two Tr-FR... and Toby Okuyemi... Think about it. This is not going to end well.
