Thats not fair HW. Watson was completely destroyed by most Nebraska fans, and Bo had to do something after that 09 year.
It was a bad situation for everyone involved. Bo never had a bad word to say of Watson. Bo gave Watson the opportunity to create an offense that fit what Bo wanted to do schematically. Watson attempted to but had bad luck with injuries and the lack of weapons.
I am a Watson fan, always thought he was a good at putting together game plans. Looking back now, its easy to ponder what might have been If Bo had given Watson the reigns to do whatever he wanted on offense and continue on the path he had started under Callahan. Probably would have a really great year in 09.
But that being said, it was a tough situation. Bo wanted a different scheme. Looking at what this offense is becoming, its hard to argue with his decision to move in a different direction and you could also wonder what could have been Watson was let go when Bo was hired.
I chalk it up to a bad fit. I don't think Bo ever intended on using Watson to protect his own ass. Not a scapegoat. Bo helped find Watson what turned out to be a very nice job, working for a great coach. I dont know, but i can't imagine there is any resentment or bad feeling between the two. Just wrong place wrong time.
Watson is going to be a head coach in about 2 years. I think he could have made that ascension at nebraska if things had gone differently but they didn't and things worked out for him. I'm glad they did.

Watson is a good OC but was not able to do the things BO wanted. Does that make him a bad coach? NO but Watson should of been able to give BO what he wanted.
You said that BO should of let Watson run the O the way he wanted, I look at it from a different point of view. Watson worked for BO, BO was the boss and when given his marching orders he wasn't able or didn't want to do his job BOs way. If I remember correctly Watson's play calling in times of need left a lot to be desired.

What for? So they can become pen pals?
We'd have to offer a ridiculous amount of money for Charlie to even consider Nebraska. And that would guarantee absolutely nothing that he could be successful here.
He turned down Tennessee. His next gig will be at a high profile Southern school where his solid Florida recruiting ties can really be utilized.

Charlie Strong doesn't guarantee you 12 wins including a BCS bowl victory at Nebraska.
Lets all keep in mind that this Louisville team lost by 19 points to Syracuse and lost to a 5-7 UConn team at home. They were a 14 point underdog for a reason.
They caught a Florida team sleeping at the wheel. A team that won a lot of games with smoke and mirrors and great defense.
It was a very impressive win for Strong and for Louisville. Lets not make it a whole helluva lot more than it actually was.

Ok the pass is the pass the point being. He got them there with those loses and got a BCS game and made the best of it by beating a great #3 team in the country no matter off or not they beat them. Don't try and make this win a chance win. Give Mr strong his just due for putting his kids in a great position to win and doing so. Wish we had that here. And by the way Georgia wasn't on their best game and we lost. It's football.

Bear, you are a wise dude. I think it's hard to estimate just how much of our current problems stem from TO wanting to bring in a newbie coach he could manipulate into trying to recast the program to the type that Ozzie ran 20 years ago and more, and which just won't work anymore. Times have changed. Aside from that there is no reasonable explanation for the state of our defense other than Bo has been a complete failure in recruiting defensive talent up until this point. I think his days are numbered unless that changes soon, and there is no indication yet that it will.
