  • This is the worst. I'm not a dad but my wife is a teacher and just never thought that someone would be so sick to go on a school shooting let alone an elementary school. Just tragic. My thoughts and prayers go out to all families, students, and teachers involved.

  • I type this through tears as I think of the parents and families and friends going through this tragedy. What sort of sickening display of human ignorance was this? What a horrible horrible day for this nation. Despicable. Prayers go out to them, makes recruiting news trivial when I think about this sorts of tragedies.

    exactly kind of hard to type about recruiting stuff when this is going on, especially on the heels of the mall shooting in Oregon few days ago

  • Seems like everyday, there is another mass shooting or at least some gun violence. I cannot imagine how hard it is for the families of the victims or the children who survived that now have to live with this the rest of their lives. The 2nd amendment will be history within 20 years at this rate. When this kind of stuff happens on a weekly basis, it makes me wonder what is wrong with this country. There is something deeply wrong with us as a culture.

  • This is a horrible tragedy but I don't think this tragedy defines our culture but instead our response to it will best define our culture and values. This is the work of one awful human being. Unfortunately there are no laws that can ever fully protect us or our children from the lunacy of some individuals. Nor should this be the time to discuss passing laws -- this is the time to heal and come together. As a father, my heart aches for those families in Connecticut.

  • My sister is a principal of an elementary school on the East Coast. I doubt I'll even be able to talk to her tonight.

    Somebody came into an elementary school of 5-10 year olds and was shooting them at point blank range. I can't wrap my mind around that. How effed up are we as a society?

    6 of the 12 largest mass murders has happened since 2007.

    20 kids ages 5-10 shot down in pre-meditated cold-blooded fashion. Unthinkable.

    20+ years ago the trend became that punishing children was not a good thing. It continues to go downhill with Timeout instead of spanking. Then you have the every kid gets a trophy mentality. By the time these people get to 20 they have no idea how to deal with tough times, so they completely snap. I dont think these people are mentally ill, I believe they are so conditioned and coddled from a young age that they cant deal with even the smallest failures. The worst part is that it will continue to get worse. We have created an entire generation of people that cant cope with challenging times.

    Disagree completely. We have had this stupid kind of mindless shit that has gone on for years. The difference is a media influened mindset and response. Turn off your tv. Get outside. Spend time with your kids. Stop asking God to solve it and use the free will that he has instilled in you to find the solution. Most of these idiots that do this chit have cried out for help. We've even seen it here. Be nice. Don't judge. Be open to others views. Listen. It ain't that hard. Peace be with these families.

    I disagree with this statement. We have stopped asking, not allowing prayer in school, God to protect our schools by removing God from education. At the heart of these tragedies is EVIL.

    I agree somewhat with the media part, but I think it goes deeper. The trophy generation has a "reset" mentality of life, like it's a game. Not blaming video games, but more the virtual world they live in today. There is little to no consequence to their actions. Or, I am just old now.
