Bo's Best Class?

  • Just wondering what everyones opinions were regarding this recruiting cycle? Is it Bo's best class? And off subject just a bit, who out of this class actually sees the field early? Besides Gregory of course.

Good post, glad your aboard. Yes its his best. Taylor plays early, great all purpose back.

  • It is definitely shaping up to be his best class. It kicked off with Big Red Weekend and is picking up some momentum here a couple weeks before signing day. Not bad for a staff that many on here have criticized for not being able to recruit.

  • Taylor would be nice to see on the field. But I really doubt we see him unless an injury occurs. If we happen to nab Clark I could maybe think him. Jw with Bo liking to give his guys an extra year when he plays a few more fresh meat. Was nice to see Imani in...wished he played more. But that wouldn't of even likely happened with out Rex going down. Buy was just curious as to thoughts on this class. Looks like he really has something going with this class

I think so. It sure appears to be headed towards a top 15 ranking anyway. I also have a tingle again that we get a big recruit out of nowhere.

  • At first I was hoping to see one of those big names to end this year...but even without one I like where the end of this class is going. I think the big name that is a surprise is turning out to be a multitude of prospects getting attention late in major areas of need for this class...offensive and defensive lines to start

I do think this can be Bo's best class.

Gregory, as you mention should play early. We are thin at safety. I know it might be iffy, but I still believe that Nathan Gerry could play as a frosh. He's the prototype for Bo's needs, very fast and very smart ...and that's the key, if he can pick up the system ...I think he can adjust to the speed of the game. Finnin, if he commits would be another.

Maybe a wildcard JUCO DT will appear. I don't think we'll see Taylor or Newby play early unless we have an early injury. IMO, Adam Taylor could play before Terrell Newby. He is really more akin to Ahman Green physically. Great power with speed to burn. We have such a great stable of RB's it is hard to comprehend right now. Reminds of the talent Pete Carroll had at RB at one time when he was at USC.

Oh silly me! I was thinking character. Yeah that is probably his best class this semester in terms of what will improve him as a person. However I do have it on good word that his favorite class is actually knitting 251. He says he's a natural, he even made some turtlenecks.

I think that this is his best class and we still have some work to do before it's finished, as far as early playing time I have no idea. Seems to me that Bo does not play many freshman so I doubt it will be many !! GBR

  • I thought the 2011 class was his best up until its collapse this season. We still managed to pull in quite a few high profile guys that year though.

true story, we'll see how this class really looks in a few years. Right now I think his best class might be last years. A lot of early contributors. May not be the highest profile class, but so far the one with the most immediate impact.

  • 2011 was and is still his best class IMO. We reeled in more big time recruits. Therefore the RECRUITING was better, the evaluations, character issues, and playing time distribution perhaps needed work but the recruiting results were better.

For the record I think our recruiting effort has improved (just read newbys story) but recruiting has a random element to it so you can't just look for an upward trend. That is unless you have thirty years of data and wanna run a regression.

I don't see recruiting success as just getting high profile guys, I see it as getting high character, high profile contributors. We'll see where 2013 shakes out, but 2011 while it looked great on paper, as turned into a bit of a train wreck.

Well I agree that it has to be part of evaluation but I think "character" is way over rated. And recently it seems like ppl think nebraska is a choir boy school. I think we have been lacking some insane criminal types that gave our team an attitude.

That said my point is that we competed for guys against top teams in those years and won. That to me is recruiting at high level.

Furthermore in 2011 no one would have guessed klatchko and Moore or green for that matter would have character issues (not saying they definitely did because we don't know the whole story). They seemed great at the time and were all plan A prospects. Peat also seemed to come from a great family.

My point there is that if your criteria is character also there is no way to tell until they are out, shoot if Tyler Moore transferred so could Newby Stanton or Bando who are all great guys, which means there is no way to compare under that criteria right now.

  • I think Bo's best recruiting class may well end up being his 2012 class.

I think that class will have a very solid strike rate of 70% or greater.

  • I guess an easier way to communicate my stance is this:

I judge how well we recruited based on how many plan A guys we get. In 2011 we got a lot of plan A guys. Turns out a lot of them flopped, but we still got the guys we were after.

I love this class but we did not get plan A guys as much as in 2011, especially in key areas. That does not mean I don't love this class or that they won't end up better.
