We can't afford to strike out with Johnson, Hooks, Russell and Peko. IMO we need at least two of those guys. Preferably three.

Yeah...but we won't get 3, probably won't get 2 and may not even get 1.

what makes you say this? Things don't look good for Hooks, but they certainly don't look bad for Russell, Peko or Johnson. I wouldn't say we have no chance.

I didn't say we have no chance....but things don't look good.

Russell is our best chance, IMO

Peko is likely going to Utah, IMO. Hooks will stay south and be a Cane or a Rebel. Johnson, IMO is likely going to UGA and I remain skeptical that he will be healthy enough to play next year anyways.

Long story short.....don't hold you breath on the DTs

Agree on Peko... Agree that Russell is our best chance. But I think it's going to come down to us and Ole Miss for Hooks. He really loved it in Lincoln and Miami is an abyss right now. Johnson won't be playing in 2013, and he's not planning on it. He'll redshirt and rehab and start playing in 2014 for wherever he goes. the rumor mill is that while Georgia is still "recruiting" him, since his injury they've really fallen off in communication. I think our chances with Johnson are better than most realize... especially since he is quoted as saying he wants to return for a THIRD time to Nebraska with his family. It's not just lip service anymore.

I read somewhere that the ACL was not a complete tear and its down to a 6 month recovery FWIW. Not sure how true that is.

Unmitigated disaster to not get at least one of these DT's.

The communication with UGA is good enough that Johnson is heading there on an OV this weekend.

Damn, I really hate to hear this. I think DT is our position of greatest need. Is there any real hope that Valentine and Curry can develop into big time players?

Both will be very good players. Don't know how much you can expect as redshirt frosh though

  • Toby - 50 - 50 between Us and Georgia. Maybe a hint of a chance he looks at KSU because of their track record for JuCos

Lavon Hooks - Its between Us and Ole Miss. I give us a 25% chance. I can't gauge this guy at all

Priest - He fits Nebraska so well. That doesn't mean much to me though. Nebraska / LSU / UCLA 30 % and ND at 10% , i think FSU is out of this one.

Beau - I'd say 60% chance. We've put in the time, and Bo has shown him our desire to have him wearing the N. Miami scares me, being TE U. ASU has a fun offense, so that counts for something but he doesn't seem like a party animal. That helps us too. Also, Johnny Stanton helps here too.

    Newby - I think he's ours. I'm going 90%

Qualls - Unknown, i like that he is giving us a shot. Show him the depth chart. Show him Suh. Show him he's the missing piece.

Knevel. I think its 50 - 50 between Us and Bama. Hopefully building the relationship earlier than Bama helps our case here. We need this guy

NaTy - No idea. We'll see. Love his frame.

Stingfellow - doubtful, valiant effort by the staff.

Russell - I think we are losing to OU. I'd say we have 40% chance

Hunt - He likes us. It depends how he reacts to now being at the top of our board. Will he get insulted by being forced to play the waiting game? We'll see. Cook and Priest will decide this guys future here

Peko - Have i missed something here. Utah? I thought it was Us and MSU. Someone fill me in please

Cochran - I think we have a good shot here. I'll put it at 50%. He likes education and respects our academic all american. His dad is a pastor and just met Ron Brown. Thats gotta help.

Didn't Curry play a little this year? Or was he able to redshirt?

And our struggles with JUCO DTs continues to surprise me

Partial vs. complete tear of the ACL makes no difference for a young athlete, It must be replaced. No difference in recovery time. Johnson will not be a factor as soon as we need him to be. Like nustudent said, he is far more likely to head south. There may be academic hold-ups as well. I think our staff has cooled on him.

Both Curry and Moss stand a good chance to get their year back.

Don't usually go against nustudent, but heard from someone who knows we have a JUCO DT committed. He won't share the name as the kid wants to make a formal announcement, but he has given his commitment to the staff. Sorry I don't have more.
