9 and 10 are too many IMO... 8 is right. It does mean you won't be able to play some teams for about 4 years, but so be it. 8 is good for the conference and for the teams.

10 games would be impossible, imo. Ten conference games means 5 home, 5 away. If you are budgeted for 7 home games, like many are...it's going to be difficult to find two decent non-conference games each year with the teams willing to play at your house only. With SOS an issue with the coming mini playoff structure, that's an issue.

Good post, IMHipp. The conflict between necessary home games, difficulty to sign decent non-conference opponents, and the SOS is a perfect explanation as to why they shouldn't.

Nope, 8 is not enough in a 14 team or more conference.
If the Big ten goes to 20 teams, I think all you will have is conference games.

Go to four conferences, play 8 games and ccg, then for non conference games play the pac 12 one year, next year play sec, following year big 12. Makes for a better non conference schedule and helps with recruiting. Just an idea

Actually something like this has been proposed if the CFB conferences coagulate into 4 super conferences down the road, which is the dream of a bunch of dimwits like Delaney.

Its all about the money and playing more conference games... and not paying Idaho st.... will just make more cash.
