B1G refs

  • I think the B1G got a discount rate on the out of work replacement refs from the NFL officiating strike. LOL. I just hope the Big Red gets atleast one game this year with actual college refs that know the game. GO BIG RED!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Dude come on the refs gift wrapped you guys 14 points with bs pi calls and that "illegal hit" 5 yards out of bounds. Their were crap calls all day if the last play against yall wasn't called PI then the first 4 that kept you guys on the field for auto first downs shouldn't have been called at least they were consistent. consistently bad but consistent none the less

  • The refs in this game were not the problem... they were miles better than the refs in the Michigan game who seemed to not even know the rules. Even during the game I thought they called a fair game... What was PI for Nebraska was for MSU, same with high hits, hits out of bounds and other calls. They may not be the best refs, but at least they were consistent for both teams.

  • The one thing that is blatantly obvious to me is that they are "talked into" throwing a lot of late flags by the home crowd. It is seriously poor this year and the conference needs to take a look at their performance and upgrade during the off-season.

Helmet-to-helmet is illegal anywhere on the field, no?

Honestly, I'd be fine with that one if not for the other two. It's pretty much the nuts on our the shit sundae we were fed by the refs today. And I'm not talking peanuts.

No. A helmet to helmet hit is legal when a player is running the ball. Your qb turned into a running back when he ran the ball. No call is the correct call.

No. Its not helmet to helmet on a runner. If they are carrying the ball. Its only on someone attempting a catch or a qb looking to throw. You'll never see helmet to helmet on a RB running through the hole which by rule is what Maxwell was at the point of the hit.

I would agree with this. A lot of the calls in our favor were really late. However, I can tell you, from my perspective as an MSU fan, I was usually saying, "About fucking time!" But I do agree that a ref/ump who is influenced by the crowd or a coach is the worst. Shows they don't have any confidence in what they're doing.

Yup. And just to clarify, I didn't necessarily mean just in this game. I have noticed this as a trend in many B1G games this year.
