I bet he would love that! He moved there when I was 8 years old. My parents made it very clear I was not to go over there. Was there any way in hell I wasnt going to go over there? I have lots of good stories that someday Ill share in their entirety. He is the kindest soul on this earth and I will never forget how he treated me as a kid and the things he said to me. It is every childs dream to live next to the coach of the Nebraska football team. especially in the 90s. I lived that dream and continue to live it when I go back to my parents house. Its not lost upon me how freakin lucky I was. Im debating on writing a thank you to him for everything he has done and sending it to the Op Ed section of the Journal Star. I just dont know if they would print it.

I've never been much of a fan of TO as a coach but there is no dispute he is a really good guy with a really big heart.

I gotta give Bama its due here and say its current run is very impressive. I think its a toss up but perhaps give the Huskers a little edge (maybe I'm biased). Bama has faced a tougher schedule start to finish each year than we did because it was in a stronger and bigger conference, and had to win a conference championship game each year. None of its teams compare to the 95 Husker team, but last year's was really good. I agree that its' participation in the so-called championship game the last two years had a major luck factor and involved some serious and questionable politicking. That is probably the deciding factor for me; that along with the unfair media advantage they've had for at least 3 years now. Our Husker teams were more balanced and more dominant over all. I am not an SEC hater in any way other than they are the competition, AND WE NEED TO BEAT THEIR BRAINS OUT STARTING NEXT YEAR. I don't disagree with anyone who commented that it is very tough to compare, because it is, and perhaps futile.

I won't get into a shouting match but T.O. might have been the most brilliant offensive mind of the 20th century. He was a heck of a coach... there's a lot of evidence to the contrary of your feelings towards him. Not only that, he knew how to manage egos (Tommie Frazier anyone?) and get the most out of them. He knew how to use the NCAA rules for his team and he knew how to motivate his team without getting hyper-emotional. He's a clear cut leader and a great coach... I think Bob Devaney was the better coach, but not far behind is Tom Osborne. Line him up with all the greats and he's right in there.

Maybe... in the 70s and 80s when they could win the "big one," people might have been saying that, but from 93-97 that team didn't show up flat for a game often. You can't not be a great coach if your team basically wins 4 national titles in 5 years (wish instant replay was around in 1993).

Look id like to have a way to not hand it over. But if they keep winning we are going to sound like we are hopped up on kool aid if we still try and say Nebraska's run is better. Explain why you think our run was better if they keep winning (from a national title perspective) not a consistency perspective which is I think what you are talking about? Im interested to know
