2012 Kansas City Royals Thread

  • I said when the season started, come home at .500 and I'll be happy. But, it stings knowing they should have come home 5-1 or at worst 4-2. But, no way anyone can complain about the starting pitching, they've been nails. Today was a tough one after a late night last night and thinking they would be headed home by 4 or so, then to have an almost 5 hour game. Lack of focus was evident and it cost them.

Home opener on Friday, see you there baby!!!

  • maybe Broxton won't step in for Soria as well as I was hoping. Man, what a collapse today.

  • Not a big Royals fan, got a number of friends who are though, but where is Bubba at at this point?

My guess is he'll start the year in High A and if he progresses faster than everyone expects he might end up in AA by the end of the year, but I doubt it

  • Yeah, he's in rookie ball somewhere, but I don't see him progressing anywhere near AA this year. I wouldn't look for Bubba to get to Omaha or KC for 4-5 years, he's a major prospect with off the charts 5 tool talent, but raw.

  • Cleveland rolls. Schaefer is happy. Take that KC.

Damned ugly first inning. Glad I wasn't there for that. We'll take the series. smoke

I'm hoping KC pitching will get Cleveland's bats turned in the right direction. Ubaldo tomorrow I believe.

  • LHP prospect Mike Montgomery sure has gone into the tank.

    Pre-season 2011 top-25 prospect in MLB

Pre-season 2012 top-75 prospect in MLB (depending on who you speak with)

After his dismal 2012 spring training, scouts are now saying that he profiles as a #5 starter/middle-relief guy.

that's really disappointing. Had high hopes for him. The rotation needs help.

  • I was there yesterday, the fans were not pleased at all.

There are red flags going up everywhere on this team right now.

    What's your issue with Choo?

  • Ned Yost is proving to be incompetent once again. I absolutely cannot fathom why he calls up and plays Dyson from AAA when he has TWO BACK UP CENTERFIELDERS ON THE ROSTER WHO ARE BETTER BASEBALL PLAYERS THAN JARROD DYSON.

    Yuniesky Betancourt still sucks.

This team is painful to watch minus Moose, Hosmer, Gordon and the Baconator.

He's well known to be kind of a dick. He's no AJ Pierzynski, but he's generally not well-liked by the league.

Dyson up and leading off is a joke. You are correct, the most anticipated year in quite sometime all of a sudden looks a lot like every other year for the past 20 or so.

And he cried like a bit*h after getting hit last night, but wanted no part of actually going to the mound. Sanchez was begging him to come out.

It's ridiculous. The leadoff spot is for your best overall hitter because they get the most at-bats. Alex Gordon in the leadoff spot showed a lot of ingenuity and willingness to look outside of the box from Yost. I really had optimism for this season, but this team looks basically just as bad as last year even if the numbers will be better in some areas.

The way they continue to jack with Gordon after having a major breakthrough season is so frustrating. Now the top and bottom of the lineup is straight up laughable.

    Truth.

On the bright side, Alex has been absolutely phenomenal to watch on defense this year so far. I'm struggling to think of a better left fielder in the majors right now.

Considering that Sanchez hit him the other time these two faced off and knocked him out of action for a while last season, I can certainly understand his anger. I doubt it was intentional on Sanchez's part.

As far as him being a dick, not sure where that comes from. The dude lays pretty low most of the time. Rarely says or does much. I think he's sick of being thrown at.

I can understand your disgust though, he is pretty much money against the Royals biggrin

If Royals fans spent a bunch of time hating players that constantly play well against KC, our time would be spent doing nothing but hating basically every baseball player

It's understandable though. I'm convinced Mike Sweeney only had great games against Cleveland. I'm pretty sure that Paul Konerko is the same way.
