2011 Husker DL Ranked #7 in B1G by ESPN B1G Blog

  • ESPN's B1G Blog has ranked our Husker front 4 the 7th best in the B1G in its 2011 postseason rankings.

  • I spend quite a bit of time on the field before games walking around and looking at other teams' position groups. There were two players who stuck out for how just out of the ordinary they looked. The first was South Carolina's Jadeveon Clowney. The other was Michigan State's William Gholston. I seriously don't think I've ever seen a defensive lineman that tall and that chiseled. The guy was huge.

I guess that means that the offense overachieved?

Frighteningly, Gholston will only be a Junior next year and Clowney a Sophomore.

I don't see either sticking around for their Senior seasons. Both look to be Top 10 type picks in the NFL draft after their Junior seasons if they avoid injury and trouble. Clowney could be the #1 overall pick coming out after his Junior season.

Here's a photo I snapped of Clowney during warmups. Scary to think he's still a teenager.

As close to an NFL ready linemen out of high school that you'll ever see.

  • The fact that they rate Michigan State as No. 1 should tell you how good of a game Nebraska's O-line played that day. Gholston was pretty much a non-factor.

Michael you got that very right! That was the only "perfect game" Nebraska played all last year. We dominated Michigan State offensively and defensively. Gholston had no idea what hit him again and again. MSU's all American WR also had zero catch if i am not mistaken. Nebraska team can play with anyone IF they stay consistent and eliminate play killing mistakes.

Most fun game I've ever attended in Lincoln for some reason. I seriously had so much fun the entire time and was SO excited about where we were headed.
