Not even close. 2 of these teams had 1 loss. We were undisputed and undefeated. and for people who say 97 was split. Michigan one the AP...that is a bunch of swanky writers who were sick of Nebraska's dominance and gave a team who struggled to beat Washington State and RYAN LEAF. Nebraska won by way of coaches...yes COACHES. and we absolutely demolished a Tennessee team quarterbacked by Peyton Manning who is arguably the best QB to ever step on an NFL field. And for what its worth...we did it at NEBRASKA. not the most talent laden place.

Losses at home nonetheless. If they do it again next year. even with one loss. THEN i will hand it over to them. they will deserve it. But thats a LONG way away and there a lot of teams who will be licking their chops to knock of Alabama next year. Wont happen in my opinion.

  • What a disappointment of a game. We would've played them closer, guaranteed.

    GBR

    RMagic

  • They are the 2 greatest runs in CF history.

I will never understand the 97 AP poll.

Exactly my point, but all of those facts will be swept under the rug because it's Alabama and the SEC.

Ya. I promise this will be a discussion. ESPN will grant Bama the winner without any breakdown and they'll say it was because of their dominance and the way they played. Then people with brains will go "what?" And then they'll go to a commercial with a stat about Sabans greatness and a reminder that they'll be good next year too.

And I would that we beat a Miami team with the one of, if not, the greatest DT to play in the NFL in their stadium. That team was loaded. All the logic in the world cannot save you from the knob slobbing mentality of a groupie though. Brent Musberger actually tried to make the case that a one loss team was indisputably more worthy when compared with a team that simply won all its games and sat at the mercy of a set of opinions.

I'm convinced the idea of "right or correctness" is only a matter of the louder set of voices. It will only serve to frustrate you. Remember when huskerrule posted the "debate" of an equation? People on facebook debated the validity of PMDAS. That happened. Let that soak in for a second.

Idiocracy was a prophecy. We all laughed. And then it started happening.

  • @ESPNStatsInfo: Alabama: 34th bowl win (most all-time).

It's good to be the King.

    Trash Angel

  • I was so bored with the game that I put on our win for the MNC against MiamI on. Man our D talent has fallen off. I want those level of DEs back.

You done bumped your head. That looked like our defense out there, couldn't tackle for the life of them and getting manhandled on the line.

That's the trend with the BCS. Only 6 out 15 games have been worth a censored.

I think his point being our offense would have scored more than 14... And I tend to agree... But yeah... I have bumped my head numerous times...hard.

  • I don't know. Golston was running for his life. Martinez would have at least tucked and ran a few times when Golston should have done the same. Maybe would have kept the rushers honest had he ran the ball himself.

Now that I think about it, Martinez would have thrown a pick or two running around the backfield. HAHA!!

Haha, but it's true. You wanna have your mind blown? Pull up a chair at a roundabout and watch the stupid spring forth like the salmon of Capistrano. I went to work for the first time in a month today and it felt like someone pulled a plastic bag over my head.

This would be our supposed DL from 1994:

80 Nelson, Erik DL 6-4 250 Fr. Iowa City, Iowa (Iowa City)
99 Connealy, Terry DT 6-5 275 Sr. Hyannis, Neb. (Hyannis)
Hoffman, Michael DT 5-10 230 Fr. Spencer, Neb. (Spencer-Naper)
96 Jenkins, Jason DT 6-5 265 Jr. Hammonton, N.J. (Dodge City CC) (Oakcrest)
97 Ogard, Jeff DT 6-6 290 So. St. Paul, Neb. (St. Paul)
57 Pesterfield, Jason DT 6-3 260 Sr. Pauls Valley, Okla. (Pauls Valley)
55 Peter, Christian DT 6-2 285 Jr. Locust, N.J. (Middletown South)
95 Peter, Jason DT 6-4 275 Fr. Locust, N.J. (Middletown South)
74 Saltsman, Scott DT 6-2 255 So. Wichita Falls, Texas (Rider)
93 Tomich, Jared DT 6-2 250 Jr. St. John, Ind. (Lake Central)
94 Townsend, Larry DT 6-4 285 So. San Jose, Calif. (Yerba Buena)
68 Wiltz, Jason DT 6-4 280 Fr. New Orleans, La. (St. Augustine)

and here are our supposed OLB's and DE's:

23 Arnold, Larry OLB 6-4 220 So. Copley, Ohio (Copley)
Gard, Sean OLB 5-11 205 Fr. Omaha, Neb. (Central)
58 Hardin, Luther OLB 6-2 230 Jr. O'Fallon, Ill. (Althoff Catholic)
86 Harris, Dwayne OLB 6-2 225 Sr. Bessemer, Ala. (Jess Lanier)
92 Higman, Jerad OLB 6-1 230 Sr. Akron, Iowa (Akron-Westfield)
84 Jones, Donta OLB 6-2 220 Sr. La Plata, Md. (Pomfret McDonough)
49 Martin, John OLB 6-2 245 Sr. Wahoo, Neb. (Neumann)
Miller, Bryce OLB 6-5 210 So. Elmwood, Neb. (Elmwood-Murdock)
42 Morrow, Ed OLB 6-4 230 So. Ferguson, Mo. (St. Louis McCluer)
98 Olsen, Jeff OLB 6-2 210 So. Grant, Neb. (Grant)
Winder, Shalis OLB 6-4 220 Fr. Scottsbluff, Neb. (Scottsbluff)
85 Wistrom, Grant OLB 6-5 230 Fr. Webb City, Mo. (Webb City)

Our DE's of note were Tomich, Jones, Harris, and Wistrom. We had the Peter brothers on the inside along with Ogard and Saltsman. Even Jenkins contributed.

Fact is, there wasn't much dead weight. If any. You can see the walk-ons, but other than that you had guys who played. Regardless of year, they played, and at a high level. They were expected to play at a high level.

14 of those 24 guys played. They played a lot, and were productive. Damn, we had Tomich, Harris, and Jones coming off the edge and then we subbed in Wistrom as a FR.
