VIP Room: Junior Day a big hit

Welcome to the VIP Room, the cornerstone feature of HuskersIllustrated.com that takes you behind the scenes and brings you the very latest on University of Nebraska athletics.

Nebraska just completed a huge recruiting weekend, hosting its first junior day for the class of 2014.

In addition to giving you more behind-the-scenes scoop on top prospects like Peyton Newell and Monte Harrison, we also take a look back at Nebraska's junior day from last season to find out how successful the event proved to be for the Huskers.

Even though the event was labeled a junior day, there was a standout sophomore who took in the NU campus over the weekend as well. We'll tell you more about him and where Nebraska stands early in his recruitment.

Focusing back on the 2013 class, we tell you a bit more about the decommitment of safety Marcus McWilson and the possible commitment of offensive lineman Dwayne Johnson. While McWilson is no longer listed as an NU pledge, he has yet to commit elsewhere - and the Huskers aren't giving up easily. Johnson took a weekend trip to Arkansas, and we let you know what we're hearing about the Hogs' efforts to land him.

There is another 2013 prospect who has popped up on Nebraska's radar, and there is a chance the wide receiver could make a visit to Lincoln prior to signing day. We'll let you know who he is and where he might fit into the Huskers' plans.

We also give you a quick update on a recent "business decision" baseball coach Darin Erstad made and how it could impact his team.
