The Wednesday practice rundown

Rex Burkhead

Ron Brown says Rex Burkhead is having a solid week of practice.

Nebraska will get a variety of looks from Wisconsin in Indianapolis on Saturday.

    • I started out the week very confidant. each day that we get closer and closer i just get more nervous... still confidant that it's 100% up to us. we play good mistake free football we win by double digits. we turn the ball over 3+ times we will be in trouble.

    • I think if Nebraska can play a clean game, meaning very few penalties and turnovers, then the Huskers win easily. But costly mistakes will give Wisky the win. Got to be very focused and prepared.

I'm like that every week brother! If we get down at all to start the game Saturday,I go into full on panic mode!!

I totally agree with what your saying. Thought I was the only one who felt that way before a husker game. Sometimes during a close and important game I have to turn off the TV for a few minutes to calm myself down, especially if the huskers fumble the football at the opponents 1 yard line.

What I have done a number of times this year (NW, PSU, UW, UI) is move around the house to different TV's and find the one where we play well on. Or, in extreme cases (NW and PSU), I quit watching altogether and just catch a glimpse as I walk by every once in a while. For the PSU game, I went out side and shot hoops and had the game on, on the garage TV and it worked. As it got dark out, I couldn't risk going inside, so I setup some lights to keep shooting hoops. Shot the entire second half, even had my boy and the neighbor boys believing it was working!

For the Iowa game, it was just my wife and I, so we left at half and went to the local bar to watch. It worked as well. So, I guess if things go south this weekend, I'll just have to try a few tried and true methods and find the one that works.

You guys can thank me later, I'll let you know which method worked this time.

    • No matter what happens Saturday night I'm one happy camper. Before the season started I was predicting a second place finish behind Michigan and a mediocre bowl game. We're already at 10 wins and a chance to play in the Rose Bowl. Life is good!

    • Jumped off the couch on that play Zonie.

A true freshman walk-on took a 6'2" 220 pound solid Big 10 LB to task.

Kirksey's bell was rung big time, and he was on the ground for a while after that one. Janovich looks like the 2nd coming of a Makovicka. Does he have any younger brothers?

The Husker game in Mizzou in '97 had me to a crazed state ...we had company coming over, and supposed to arrive any minute. I knew if I continued to watch the Huskers go down to Mizzou I would not be bearable to our guests. Shut off the game, went outside to get the grill ready and attended to other tasks. I didn't know that we won until mid-morning the next day when a neighbor brought over the newspaper with the headlines of the Husker win.

Understand totally. The BC era had me shutting off games regularly ...just couldn't handle it. I've mellowed a lot with Bo at the helm ...however this season has been a true Cardiac test.
