Instant analysis: Senior day win

Kenny Bell

Here is a quick first take on what we liked and what we didn't like from Nebraska's Senior Day victory over Big Ten foe Minnesota on Saturday afternoon.

    • Great game, our leading WR's are all banged up though. Even Turner limped off the field after the last kick return. Only negative to this game.

    • Michael, "A" for coverage today, thanks.....#4. biggrin

    • Might have been the worst 4th quarter of the year, even with backups in. Otherwise, a well played game on both ends. Oline still needs work at downhill run blocking...

    • Do we truly have an efficient and dependable back up QB?,,just a thought!

We've known we don't all season. The second Carnes moved, that notion went out the window. Some thought RKIII had a chance but i think we've seen enough to say that was wrong. I had some belief in him, and i was WRONG. TM is our horse. Looks certain at this point that TA will be our immediate backup next season.

On that note, what does anyone know on Fyfe? I dont know much myself about the kid other than people thought he was talented as a thrower. Will he ever become worthy of backup status, or will he be destined to ride the pine?

I think it was Bruntz that has noted that Fyfe has really opened some eyes on the scout team. Between him, Broekemeir (sp), and Marsh we should have manageable deep depthe for the future. I'm hoping we don't pull a Maryland and have to go that deep anytime in the near future though.

    • We clearly don't have a dependable back up QB. We are just left to hold our breath this year. Will be nice next year when you have a back up and Taylor can get out and run a bit more. I am amazed he has run as much as he has this year. I imagine the coaches have let home know that they can't have him hurt.

    • RKIII has not played enough to get even a little comfortable let alone to show a true sample of what he is capable of. Coaches have him #2 and that is good enough for me. Having made that statement for the record...I sure hope TM stays healthy. Go Big Red.
