A quick first take on what we liked and didn't like in Nebraska's game against Penn State.
"Bruntz Island" a win is a win! But looking a little closer at your analysis "What we didn't like" that was pitiful defensively this late in the season. The same nonsense still plagues our team: muffed punts, fumbles by the same players. I don't get it!
I am sure the coaches have been scratching their heads because they talk about fixing those same problems week in week out.
Thanks for your insight though; looks great!

Good job--couldn't agree more with your main points. The guys were really out of synch in that 1st half. Thank heaven Beck got the word in the 2nd half that a big bruiser carrying the ball inside the 5 is a good call. Also kudos to Turner. He took a hell of a hit in the 2nd quarter and then caught the go-ahead TD on a similar pattern in the 4th qtr when Penn State was defending him to the outside.
All valid points. However, it doesn't give credit to Coach O'Brien who schemed a great game. This was a very good, very well disciplined team. We'll not see another team with a defense this good until we get to the Rose Bowl.
This was a great coaching battle. Really enjoyed seeing this chess match.
We shot ourselves in one foot and a big toe, yet persevered by 9 points.
Good points. My #1 & #2 "don't likes" are not listed and deserve a mention because it was fortunate it didn't cost us the game, again. Both involve offensive play calling. 1. I understand the idea that you keep calling a play until the defense stops it. I don't understand calling it every single play (the toss sweep) until you end up in 3rd and long with a more likely than not situation of picking up the 1st down and ending a drive. Beck did this in a game earlier this year, Northwestern I believe, and should have learned his lessen. That's just throwing away a drive. 2. Not being aggressive in the offensive play call with 7 minutes and less left in the game and ahead by less than a TD. Not surprisingly we were stopped in short order and had to rely on the defense.
