That's what I can't help but wonder with the recent (perceived) push for guys like Cross and Bourque. I know you have to keep a steady flow of talent in. But that just seems like a position we could wait on for a year and save a scholarship for another position.

I don't think this is any indication. Seems to me they're just trying for a larger back to compliment their quicker, more finesse types. Just my take.

It would really be good for the offense to have a bigger back as part of the attack. I was really excited by what Quenton Castille did against Clemson in the Gator Bowl now 3 seasons back and there are several times since where a combination of quickness AND size would have been very useful.

No one is leaving. As has been stated they need a bigger running back that can take the heat off of Rex in goal line situations. As for redshirting, i actually doubt it if they want him for a big back presence they'll want to get him on the field in the red zone right away to see what he can do.
I think they WERE hoping Braylon Heard could be that guy (he's a bit bigger than Ameer and Green) but he doesn't run behind his pads. I bet one of the three transfers after next season though.

I never said the staff would flip it (Remember this is the staff that in 2009 put Rex back to return VT's kick-off with 19 seconds left and nu needing a house call or 60 yard plus return--lol).
I do think next year his number of carries at IB goes down and his FB carries go up.
And people can relax about Mike marrow until we actually see him play. I think MM would have his hands full trying to beat out Rex straight up in 2012 with what we know about Rex's inside and physical running and ball security. Maybe MM would be a better blocker but somehow I think Rex could carry out his blocking assignments better than most FBs out there anyway.
